Also, Laser Squad Nemesis: They want $50 a year for subscription. That's crazy. I mean, it's a lot less than a MMO but it's not like it takes a lot of work on their part to run this game. It's a play by email game, jesus! Also, you have to be subscribed to get player created maps, which is just wrong. But LSN isn't a RTS, so why are we talking about it?
X-COM being my favorite game that isn't faggot text, I signed up for Laser Squad Nemesis the minute I heard about it. $15 for three months was OK, I guess, so I signed up. Hey it's multiplayer X-COM, after all!!! Games with the actual title "X-COM" in them certainly weren't going to deliver the goods, so why not go back to the developers responsible for all the fun.
I had a password problem getting in, couldn't remember my account name, fired off a number of support e-mails asking for help, didn't get a single response and then the 90 days elapsed. I guess if I wanted three more months I could have flushed a twenty, but my toilet doesn't make change.
On the other hand I got X-COM on CD for $1.99 when EB was trying to get rid of them in 1996 which is probably the best value-per-dollar game I've ever obtained. Win some, lose some, etc.
the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! ...because I could give you credit for "recruiting" me when I register. That'll net you a month of free play. The more caltrops fags I can chat immaturely to while I play, the better.
If not I'll just give it to Fabs.
I am also very unhappy about the subscription dealy. However, it's the only game of its kind on the market right now so what choice do I have? I guess the plus is that there's no way the game would have gotten the years worth of bug-stomping and unit-balancing it did if it was a one-pay deal. On the other hand, if it was moddable people more nerdy than me would have done that for free. (Sideways frowny face formed by the conglomeration of a colon and an opening parentheses) |
