I hate you, INC.
Get in line.
Anyway, it just proves T2 sucked shit. It was terrible simply because it existed, but it also was a really, really bad movie. And not only did Cameron betray the already stretched logic of the first film with it, he more importantly forsake everything good about it: an uncaring robot who barely spoke and just killed, killed, killed became some sort of humanist stand-up comedian who couldn't cram enough catchphrases into his robotic brain. The glasses he wore to disguise the fact his eye was missing and there were wires coming out (plus the movie cost like $63.87 to make) became some sort of de rigeur fashion accessory that all Terminators had to go find as MISSION #1 when they arrived from the future.
Plus the movie combines two instant plot-breaking devices: time travel and shape-shifting. As soon as you introduce either of those you can pretty much forget any sort of coherent story - put both of them in a movie and you might as well stage a chase scene complete with guns on the sinking Titanic.
The differences between the two movies can be summed up like this: somewhere between The Terminator and T2, Cameron began to think he had a brain. |
