T2 had better special effects. Remember the scene where the city gets nuked from the pov of the playground. Contrast that with the half assed explosion layered over the city in T3.

I just recently saw this (it only opened 'round here last week or so), and I can definitely say I got my 2.50$ worth. Unlike with the Matrix 2. But I think this is a good question.

From what I recall, T2 cost around 200 million, total, including the massive propaganda that accompanied it. Now, T3 had virtually no propaganda, and from what I hear cost around 160, 170m. Now, I did hear that at one point, during the crane scene, Arnie had to reach into his own pocket to fund it because the studio was unwilling to; however, with that assload of money involved already, why were the effects SO much inferior to T2?

Does 160m now not buy 200m a decade ago in special effects? Were they purely aesthetic choices gone horribly awry (YES, INSTEAD OF THE BADASS SHAPESHIFTING CRAZY FROM 2, WE SHALL MAKE THE TX BASED LOOSELY ON "Short Circuit")? I dunno about you all, but thinking back that one scene where the T-Whateverthefuck from 2 goes from floor to killer in no time, is blown sideways by shotgun, etc, was more impressive than all of 3 put together.
