The best place to go is the Killer List of Videogames forum. There used to be a lot of conversation on rec.games.video.arcade.collecting, but everyone has moved over to KLOV because of all the spam on Usenet.

The problem with this is that the KLOV forum is absolutely the worst in the world. I don't mean it's bad like how people say this forum is bad (i.e., dumb shits who have a flat versus threaded preference and can't differentiate between their preferences and a lack of features). KLOV's forum software is bad for technology and social reasons. They share a board with people suffering from lymphoma. The search is ridiculously unhelpful. You can't put % anywhere in your messages. You have to register off-site someplace to get access. But let's get you set up.

This is where you want to go to register for an account. I think. It says something about making you register and then getting an account for the forums. I can't remember what hoops I had to jump through, but it is ultimately worth it, because it's the greatest concentration of helpful people for this thing in the world.
