I like this. It should be a theorem, since the general proof has already been worked out by some sociologists (brands matter more when the item being branded indicates elements of one's personal identity)


This is an sad theory. Automobile manufacturers spend more on advertising than any other industry. Increased resources leads to slicker production and the ability to better scope you out, and this puts them in the best position to force an unwanted connection between you and their product. It makes sense. Money does it. We are the whores. We got bought for as little as wide angle, sweeping helicopter shots, and smiling, wrinkle-free MILFs cornering to your favourite song. You came cheap and unwilling and the song remains a marker of your violation.
