Oldies stations ruin a lot of good music for people. by Fullofkittens 08/01/2007, 6:21am PDT
The problem with all those songs is that people are sick to death of them because you cannot escape them. "Everyday People" is actually a really good song but you wouldn't know it from the chorus of boos it gets in my brain every time it comes on the television in some commercial.

Contrasting with your experience, my parents detest all music that isn't by John Denver or Billy Joel. So when I first heard the music of the 60s, I thought it was the greatest. I listened to the oldies station nonstop for about 6 years, and it was my own special secret because I was the only person I knew who actually listened to it instead of using it as sonic wallpaper. But really the only difference was that I was 16 years behind everyone else in getting sick to death of it.
