I remember you boasting about how well you were doing in the practice tests. What could the difference be?

Law school is not like high school biology, where someone like me can show up, dazzle the teacher, and promptly occupy the happy sinecure of Smartest Kid In Class no matter what kind of work I hand in or don't hand in. Law school involves commitment! Hard work! Late nights! That I got the equivalent of a 91% on a test which should have been called The Test About Being The Smartest Kid In Class represented a positive failure, homefry, because it was richly clear to me that I had neither committed nor worked hard enough. And, of course, MM is quite right that I was a fucking pussy, but that's also a failure of commitment and effort.

I'm a lot less bubbly now than I was back in the day. I'd probably do a little better on it if I did a retest. But I was never really interested in law practice anyway: I was interested in law theory, and more generally, political theory, and more specifically, the command and control mechanisms of state organization. Really that's the only thing I've managed to stay interested in since I set foot in junior college. You can dick with those mechanisms from within the legal community, but I dunno, man. What I would like to do is policy work. Think Tank Fucktard, that's what I'm shooting for.
