Do normal PnP dragon fights consist of spamming magic missiles and death magic hoping either goes through? Can you quick save in the PnP version? Right before being pincered by two black dragons, I got a lecture in how important chance is in Faerun, I don't know if that was a joke.
Crafting is neat, and will realize all your dreams to get a Icy Adamantine Greatsword +5. However, by the time you get all you're books you're damn well near the end of the game and getting all kinds of various shit. Not to mention dodging around to get yourself that canary diamond and heading to the crafting table you probably already don't give a shit. Also, the enchanting/wondrous items is all based on wizard spells so picking those feats on a bard or a sorcerer is a huge waste of time.
The game definitely drags along in some parts, and you'll get really sick of seeing '[Influence: Failure]' by the end of it. However, the prestige classes, character creation is deep enough to at least keep me having fun. If you don't mind regretting your decision to go Half-elf Bard/Duelist/Red Dragon Disciple rather than Halfling Bard/Duelist/Weapon Master. Seeing all the shit that was done with NWN (not that I've actually played it or the mods, or the add-ons, I just heard about them), I'm hoping NWN2 will find itself similarly expanded.
Also, I'm a huge idiot, but if the bard's whistling sound when he does a song with no instrument could be replace with beat boxing I'd be all over it.

Just because it's D&D, do dragons need to be in the game? by Worm 11/21/2006, 12:38am PST
