To find it was all a fabrication would be the greatest disappointment since the Santa Claus debunkment. I want a rat faced guy running around befriending wholesome girls and bragging about drinking beers in a dorm room while thinking he is a "big shot". What I don't want is another smarty pants Fussbettjeim on the internet pulling my leg. Who needs that? Has not Punk'd sated ours needs for wacky pranks?

As C.S. Lewis had put it, paraphrasing here, there is no form of humor so low as flippancy; it dulls, rather than excites, the intellect, and incites no love between those who practice it. With flippant people the joke is assumed to have been made already, thus removing the necessity of making it. This flippancy directed at stunted individuals seems to me a kind of time-killing cowardice. It does nothing worth doing for the practicioner and begins, consequently, to look like hypocrisy, and I find it unattractive.

No one finds C.S. Lewis more funny than I. He is one hilarious motherfucker, and an expert on humour. But I think it's important to note that anytime a geezer speaks on the rules of comedy, they're maybe bitter, sometimes jealous, and usually seeking revenge on a slight, real or imagined. So I don't know who dared to be flip to Lewis (Tolkien?!), but it's unfair to hold us up to those standards. Some Amazon.com user probably gave The Wardrobe and Antelope a mere two stars and Lewis lost it. Regardless, the bigger point is that in laughing at rat face, we're not being flippant.

We read every word he writes and debate what they mean. When he says he walks with his arms arched and an unpredictable look on his face, we get to the fucking bottom of that shit. I'd hazard that no one takes his writing more seriously than us, and if his writing inspires us to laugh because he is batshit insane, then this is our honest, nay earnest response. He is not off limits.
