Granted that I'm not terribly far into the game (I'm a few missions past stealing the tank) but so far, there's only been one mission like that Bomb da Base mission. That was where I was running around town sniping people. I had a mission where I shot the hell out of people from a helicopter and one where I shot the hell out of people from a boat. If you take those together, then you have three missions kinda like that. The rest seemed to be pretty simillar to the GTA3 missions. I heard there are a lot of race-type missions comming up.

In other words, I think your litmus test sucks.

One question, though. Why are there humvees in Vice City in the 80s?

There's a lot of shooting people while on a boat/helicopter missions. The whole "shooter on rails" thing was novel back when I first played Rebel Assault, but I'm ready to move on. There are also a lot of shooting on foot missions. Mother FUCK that one where you have to save Vance. There are shitty racing missions also, plus a boat racing mission.

But the Vance mission is a great example of the GREAT mission, and a great example of why your anti-gun skew is completely fanatical. Rescuing Vance is completely COMPLETELY different from Bomb Da Base and rail shooters. Yeah, you're on foot a lot, but no one seems to mind this as much as you. Furthermore you start off in a car (diving out of your flaming car to send the explosive projectile into the first wave of baddies is a great way to start that mission) and [SPOILERS] after rescuing Vance there is a really great car chase to the hospital. What's your beef with this mission? The fact that you have to leave the car at all?

If they removed all shooting from the game, then you'd instead be defending Vice City against the legion of people complaining that they made it TOO CRAZY TAXI.

GTA3: No diving, no cycles, no helicopters, no car melee damage, no tire damage, easier cops (insta-bust), no rappelling heli-SWAT. Vice City has lots to offer over just the soundtrack.
