I never once used auto-potion. The chapter 3 boss was sort of an asshole, but it only took a couple of tries. Here's a better tip: if you think you are on par with the leveling, you are wrong. Also, keep all your characters the same level, as the enemies are the level of your highest one. Chocobos suck in general. What's great is if you get a random character who has the same name as your last name. That's what I got, anyway. Jesus, the battles in that game take a really long fucking time.
