Endless Space 2 is Big Trouble in Little China, and you're Kurt Russel. The real protagonist is Isyander, the leader of the Hero Academy and everything you do in this game revolves around him and his plans. Did you achieve the science victory conditions? Well you're gonna have to sit and wait until Isyander's big endgame story is finished before you get your win! Oh, did Isyander gift you a big spaceship in return for completing a mission for him? Well fuck you if you're planning to take that ship on a conquest, he won't let you use it to invade planets.

Bleh! Fuck off. Let me tell my own story, stop thwarting my plans for not following yours.



The STORY objectives are peak example of them not being able to balance or design anything. They can make pretty as fuck strategy games with the promise of crazy fun and varied factional asymmetry, but none of it ever holds up.
