If this program does something to aid that fuckload of kids (800 000?) born to addicts, it's easing at least one habitual drug abuse problem. From what I've seen, a segmented approach to widespread addiction, dealing with aspects of the problem separately might be the best solution.
Right, but you seem to forget that the largest segment that this program is aimed at do NOT want to get off the drugs. What do we do with the Darryl Strawberrys of the world that just don't want to stop?
Getting them to stop taking drugs is all fine and dandy, and I'm sure CRACK (seriously, what up wit' dat' yo?) does everything it can to steer these women to an NA program, but for some people that just isn't an option they are gonna take.
And hey, if they do want a baby down the line they can always go to the UFO cult and get a clone of a Danish lesbian. |
