Basically, he liked the first and second ones, for being short and well-thought-out. Wizardry 2 was basically a level pack for Wizardry 1. 3 was another level pack, but the concept was starting to wear thin. And 4 was apparently poorly designed and agonizingly hard, even by the standards of the day. I don't think he got past 4 in his descriptions, though, so that doesn't really help you decide whether to play 7 or not.
