The "okay" game Paper Sorcerer and the frontpage might and magic 1 article have whetted my appetite for an old school Bard's Tale-like Western RPG. I just purchased the whole Dark Savant Trilogy (Wizardry 6-8) on sale from GOG for something like $5 total.
I'm at a point in my life where my time is worth more than my money, and I'm not sure if I want to invest the time to carry a party through all 3 games. I've always heard Wizardry 7/Gold was amazing.
Am I going to miss out on a lot if I skip 6?
Might and Magic 6, the 3D one, was one of my biggest gaming disappointments of all time. Is Wizardry 8 more of that, or is it worth playing?
I guess my question is, to maximize enjoyment, should I just play 7, or should I do the whole trilogy?
Don't do the whole trilogy. I'll be finished with Cyberganked next year and if you are burned out on that type of game you won't want to play it.
I am delighted you found your OMM post though! I should start from the beginning and read everything they have from the OMM forum.
