If you've read "Le Morte d'Arthur" then I'd say definite buy.
The main downside is no manual. You learn through tutorials and tooltips. If you disliked SOTS for poor documentation, you'll hate it in this
Beginner's tips (note I'm still learning the game myself)
Light infantry is best ambushing in forests, heavy infantry is best on open land.
Terrain matters. Don't be a dumbass and charge your Cavalry uphill toward fortified archers, even if "cavalry beats archers."
Likewise, Cavalry needs space to run (flat or downhill) to use their charge ability. Heavy Cavalry dominates if positioned correctly.
Knights come in 3 flavors: Warlords, Champions, and Sages. Warlords should be the leader of an army so they can give armywide bonuses and strategic map benefits. Champions are supercombatants, attach them to your biggest baddest heavy cavalry and get them in the fray. Sages are spellcasters, put them in a light cavalry unit to best position them to zap shit.
Spells cost less mana to cast when leveled up, so your Champions and Warlords shouldn't shy away from active skills.
You need to restore Excalibur before you can use territory and recruit troops. You need to capture either London or Virconium before you can research and upgrade troops.
The alignment system determines the direction of your troop and spell research. Decide on Righteous or Tyrant and Christian or Druid, and stick with it the whole campaign. It's intentional that trying to be true to your convictions will put you in some awkward situations during the text quests.
The Druids and the Saxons Campaigns that come bundled in King Arthur complete are slightly altered sandbox versions of the game, though the map is always Brittania.
Word on the street is King Arthur 2 is a buggy piece of shit with weak AI. Even if it was technically perfect I wouldn't care because instead of living out the Arthurian Legends, this is a Todd McFarlane "dark" sequel. Ugh.
I'm loving this game, but I haven't gotten very far in it yet. |

Just a reminder: SOTS2 still sucks and you should not buy it for even 5$ by WITTGENSTEIN 03/25/2012, 9:41am PDT
Essentially, SOTS is RISK, so it was a mistake adding all that shit anyway. by Mischief Maker 03/25/2012, 3:39pm PDT
