I remember there were some people here who loved Persona (wasn't there supposed to be a frontpage review?) I hated Devil Summoner with a passion because of its idiot teenagers spending 5 pages every scene describing the events going on around them, even if I chose the dialogue option that says I have clearly figured it out on my own! I was also pissed that the game tried to pass itself off as a Strategy RPG when in fact it was a regular jRPG with combat played in 2-turn increments.
Anyhoo, I know this series is incredibly popular and I find the premise of the upcoming Strange Journey intriguing (a demon-filled black hole is slowly enveloping the earth from the south pole, you play a team of UN soldiers in APCs driving into the phenomenon to find out how to stop it). Playing a space marine in powered armor (albeit powered armor that makes you look like a very femmy cyberman) promises to be less irritating than Devil Survivor.
Or is this series, like Final Fantasy, a series that's popular for no good reason? |
