One horrible, fat, middle-aged woman 4th grade teacher would force every recess she was on duty for to be nothing but walking. Walking endless laps around the bus loop. No stopping. No running. No talking until it was time to go back inside.
PE class:
The worst: Basketball drill stations. Shuttle runs, weaving between cones, dribbling runs, free throw line. No actual basketball games ever.
Most dangerous: High school floor hockey. Hard rubber ball, slap shots allowed, zero eye protection. Half the kids were on the hockey team and it was a better idea to just get out of the way when they wound up for a shot. One kid got hit in the nuts by a blinding slap shot and he went into a crimson faced coughing fit. After 10 minutes of sitting out, he recovered and went back in. 3 minutes later another hit to the nuts. This time he went down and stayed down.
Most fun: High school soccer.
Not the actual soccer, god no. It was the total lack of supervision. Class was split into football and soccer, with the teacher only supervising the football field, out of sight of the soccer field. Good natured fights and beatings. Bonfires lit out of leaves and branches. Kids smoking (joints too!) while running with the ball. For the final class several hundred water balloons were brought in, filled in the locker room, and pelted at the class loser out on the field in 40 degree early morning late fall weather. The teacher came up to take attendance, saw the dripping kid, asked what the hell happened and just shook his head and left when the kid answered "I fell, by the sink."
