You can call American farms whatever the fuck you like; I call them awful, and so do the American farmers who work them. Here's a quote from the Entropy Stew article that I didn't read:

Tarriffs are used to buy votes off inefficient producers. You can call your farms a breadbasket all you want, but if the rest of the world is a bakery, then you've got a choice: you can close your eyes OR open your mouth.
I live in a country that would have the third highest GDP per capitia in the world if the farming industry were a perfectly competitive market. Look on as, despite the heavy farm duties imposed on us, a nation of 4 million outproduces every other country in the world. New Zealand has the capacity to feed the planet. You have corn, whiney farmers, and clueless politicians. You suck corn syrup through a crooked plastic straw.
