Overall it's a good patch because the game that we all enjoy doesn't feel substantially different, as was the case with many of the Counter-Strike patches, for example.
Snipers are a bit of an epidemic on maps now, as we all enjoy that class' new power. I also had a teammate walk over a claymore and it didn't fire -- could claymores now be untriggerable by teammates? Someone find this out! I picked up a dead guy's AWP and liked it a lot, but I think I'll stick with the M95, because as if a sign from God, I had two clear shots at a Vodnik driver's face before remembering Bodybag posting that this new rifle doesn't go through the bulletproof glass like the M95. I'm all about the driver killing!
I unlocked the P90 since I couldn't find one in the field to test, and anti-tank is probably my second or third most played class. I have mixed feelings about it. The laser sight is awesome, the 50 bullet clip is of course awesome, but bullets #2 through #50 in the full auto burst are useless. Still, I had several kills from just taking single shots as people from a distance, something I obviously couldn't do with the DAO-12. I seems like it takes 3 or 4 shots to kill a guy far away. My disappointment with this stems from the fact that it takes ONE shot from the Eryx/SRAW, so I'm actually getting less done with the P90, although I guess I'm saving anti-tank ammo. I'll still use the P90 for the novelty for a while, but I suspect I'm better with the DAO-12.
Stinger and IGLA kills were way up as expected, especially on a map like Oman. I flew for a bit and definitely got shot down more, but not before dropping a few bombs on "Ryvar" and "SyntheticPathos", who are Senor Barborito and Pathos, respectively. I ran into them at like 4:00am on a random server I picked for the ping. I played about 6 maps, but Ryvar had a lot of connection problems. |
