This is the Blackhawk gun nerf you've been crying about. Combined with the AA missile strengthening, inside a Blackhawk is now a stupid place to be.
Instead of reducing aircraft hitpoints (again), I'd be happy with with just stinger lock being improved and flares weakened so that instead of renderring you immune to missiles they just threw them off enough so that a flare + hard bank would be needed to avoid them. No more popping off a flare then performing a head on bombing run against AA.
Have you flown a jet yet? Dropping your flares is the last thing you want to do, because unlike the choppers, the jet flares don't replenish for like a minute, which is a very long minute as you shuck and jive around, never flying in a straight line to avoid locks. So, to drop flares and charge an AA vehicle is no small thing. At best you'll kill the AA vehicle and leave very wounded from the flak guns, and without flares. At worst your bombs miss and now you're fucked.
(also, there is a 1 in 6 chance the lock will stay on your vehicle instead of moving to one of the fire flares) |
