Not that fag down there.

Okay, so Haslett isn't the guy who's team has given up on him for the last three years? I thought YOU said that, although I can't find it so maybe I imagined you saying that. Anyway, there's this thread.

Yeah, well, they definitely gave up this year. What a horrible performance. Darren Howard (DE) reached a new low in quitting on the season - he literally quit. Since he is going to be a free agent at the end of the season and they are not going to bring him back he's just... not playing any more. Thanks for the hard work, Darren!

But forget that. You're right, Norv Turner is definitely worse than Haslett and has had two chances at head coaching. So unless Saint's Stench prevents owners from even considering Haslett, he's almost guaranteed another chance somewhere. So what are his motivations for staying with the team? The owner is the biggest bastard on Earth, apparently. I still think the 5 year offer is an offer that'll be rejected out of hand but still give him the appearance of trying to be reasonable.

Yeah, "five years" is probably going to be negotiated down to "five minutes after the season ends."

Do all Saint's fans take pride in loving the worst team in the NFL? I mean, I guess it's all a Saint's fan's got.

No, no... I'd trade it all for a little more (winning). It's like when Red Sox fan won the World Series. They wanted everyone to believe that losing wasn't their trademark. I just know that teams have had strings of very good seasons (The 49ers, the Bills, Packers) EVEN THOUGH they were once a laughingstock for many, many years. I just want what everyone else gets.

P.P.S Tell us more about the fixed post-911 game?

I tried to find specifics for the last week, but couldn't. Blame my memory. Basically, I remember being outraged as each big play the Saints reeled off was called back for holding that couldn't be identified on film and so on and so forth. I reserve the right to come back here with more data if I can find a game tape or something. But I'm 100% confident that the tape will show how the NFL desperately wanted the Giants to win there if the game is viewed. Then they wanted the G-men to win in 2005 so they moved the game to NY. Whenever we get the Giants in normal settings we beat up on them so bad it gives rise to things like "The Cellphone Incident."

The maddening thing about the Saints is that they are loaded with talent. They have been since their playoff bid. Sure, they've lost some dudes, but Joe Horn is one of the best WRs in the league, if you go by stats. I mean, third overall good. Donte Stallworth is as legit a #2 guy as you'll find, and Az Hakim rounds out a solid WR corps. Deuce is a rumbler, and although he's out, the line-up is as good as you'll find: Antowain Smith, Aaron Stecker, Anthony Thomas. I mean, these guys have carried the ball and gotten yards and stuff in the past. Thier line has been better, but it's been a lot worse. The D line could use a Pro Bowler, however. But, the secondary got a jolt with Mike McKenzie (what a great trade). And then there's Aaron Brooks.

You know why locker room poison assclowns like Jeff George and Tony "The Dog Ate My Playbook" Banks keep getting phone calls - they have cannon arms. Too bad they have nothing else. Brooks is not dissimilar, in that he has flashes of absolute brilliance on the field. Lasershot passes right in the numbers, scrambling runs. When he's on, look out. You see that shit, and you want to get with it. But, he's never on for very long, is he? I mean, one possession is his limit. And then, he does some of the most inept retarded-ass stuff, absolutely horrible decision-making.

I have to blame the coaches here. Case in point: Jake Plummer. Which do you think is the real Jake, the doofus from his Arizona days or the steady, confident Pro Bowl candidate in Denver? I'm thinking it's coaching in that case - you've seen footage with Shanahan on the sidelines with Jake, showing him what he's done right and wrong, with ever-increasing improvement. The writing was on the wall at the end of last season - Plummer and Favre had almost identical numbers, the key difference being Plummer is on his way up, Favre on his way down.

I mean, has Brooks played any better than their playoff run? Of course not. He played pretty well the following season, after handily beating Jeff Blake out in preseason. But since, nothing. He makes all the same mistakes, has no consistency, never improves. I'm amazed he stayed the starter for so long.

Of course, benching him for Todd Bouman, because he "commits too many turnovers" (and then Bouman throws what, 3 in one quarter), doesn't make much sense, either. That's the Saints in a nutshell: neither decisions are any good.

I think Haslett hates coaching there. I think he has ever since the owner fired GM Randy Meuller after Meuller won NFL Exec of the Year. I mean, WTF? And Haslett said some stuff last season that I've never heard from a coach who has returned the following year. "Our team is stupid! Our players don't even try! The media here sucks!" Not that I think he is a bad coach; he just hates being in NO. He should go. The Jets and Saints should just switch coaches, since the Jets are probably going to can Herm Edwards, for reasons I cannot fathom. Or, St. Louis. He can take Az back with him!

Meanwhile, Aaron Brooks should go to Miami and reunite with ol' Rickey. Saban would be good for him - ex college coaches are good in that they are typically good teachers.

I remember that Jets game. The whole time I was going "WTF, that's what guards are supposed to do, watch out for their QB!" Brooks was trapped flat on the ground, and his head was getting ripped off backwards for no fucking reason. You'll notice Turley wasn't reprimanded by the team. That's why back in the late 90's, the Niners picked up Kevin Gogan, to protect Steve Young. He trhew a Falcon dude like ten yeard and got a personal foul penalty, but that's what those guys are supposed to do.

Anyway, of course my idiot Niners have to win yesterday and hamper their chances of getting Reggie Bush. Th egood news is, the tie-breaker is lowest win percentage of opponents. As of yesterday, it was Green Bay by like .004 or something over the Niners. But, if the Niners lose against the Texans, well, I think we've got it sewn up!
