Um, finishing up IWD2 review now. However, I have a question about percent chance for spell casting failure. Besides the fact that it FUCKING SUCKS horribly, could someone give me a quick rundown on it? Like, base chance, does it decrease by level, skill, feat, whatever? What's the base failure percentage for a 7th level sorceror, for instance?
Thankee-sai,

It doesn't suck any more or less than the justification that "metal screws up magic" or "the yoga positions needed for magic are impossible in armor". Now it's just "the yoga positions required for magic are hard to do in armor". All gay. Here's my rule: magic users can all wear armor if you buy the feat or take the standard penalties. Simillarly, in 2nd Ed, I let everyone use whatever fucking weapon they felt like. I'm vindicated by the 3rd Ed in this regard. (Aren't the combat differences accounted for by shitty THAC0/Base to-hit and fewer hit points anyway? 3rd Ed says: yes.) |
