or hell, anything. I think the Marvel Superhero roleplaying game was the only PnP I've played that was worse than D&D.
Gotta start trolling to entertain yourself?
I disagree with his blanket statement on how D&D sucks, but I am quite curious as to how the Marvel Superhero RPG was. What I've always gathered is that the game had quite the negative buzz, but I've never really seen it articulated as to why, exactly. Please to be elucidate your thoughts, FABIO.
One of the things that comes to mind for the Marvel system as opposed to the DC system(the only other hero RPG I have played unless you count TMNT) is there isn't any sense of balance. If I rolled up a character that was a alien/demigod with butt load of Shift-Z Powers, how was I supposed to play with my friend who rolled up a altered human with the exciting power of being able to light candles from his finger? DC OTOH gave the option to build your characters from a point build system and if you wanted to run in Superman's pack you got 100pts to spend and if you wanted to run in the same pack as the Dark Knight then you got 25. Since DC gave the player a choice on how to build a character it made it possible to have a theme with the powers, rather than the random mismash that you got from Marvel. Another thing that the Marvel system suffered from is that it was nigh impossible to develop your character after the get go. If your alter ego started out as a chainsmoking pothead for justice, there was never a built in way for him to develop his resources/powers in any appreciable way. So the random character that you rolled who had the power to teleport two feet, and breath underwater for six months at a time was set in stone unless your DM decided to throw you a bone.
