Fabio - I even *agree* with you that some of P:T's fed-ex-like quests were pretty dull. And I think the BG series did AD&D combat far, far better.
However - [i]how the high motherfistfucking unholy betentacled rape demons of FUCK does that make P:T a Sierra-like adventure game in any way?![/i]
The Sierra games that sucked didn't suck because of you having to go to point B and get item C to help you get past point A. They sucked because there is no fucking way of figuring out some of the puzzles without cheating. Or because they tossed in those indefuckingscribably stupid spiral stairs/narrow mountain ledge/beanstalk navigation screens that were nigh fucking impossible to get past without repeated attempts and did nothing but serve to PISS THE PLAYER THE FUCK OFF. Or because (I remember you mentioning the cat/mouse in KQ5 up as an example, and it is a great one) you'd enter a room and see something that didn't really seem important and shrug it off and suddenly WHOOPS THE GAME IS COMPLETELY FUCKING OVER even though the game wouldn't point that out to you and would let you play without reason or hope of success for hours on end much like a retard trying to shove the square peg into the round hole of his Fisher Price game by using his tongue, allowing you to live in the delusion that you'll eventually be able to win even though you won't until you restart and take notice of the completely fucking unnoteworthy event that happened earlier or whatever.
P:T had its (so minor that I'm still amazed they ruined the game for you) problems, but it is NOTHING like Sierra games, unless you want to compare it to the great Sierra games in one sense: it, like them, is a great game. |
