Care to clarify on that? Or do your political opinions consist entirely of vague ad hominem attacks?
Well, the idea anyway, is that opinions expressed around here are both reasonably well thought-out and then embellished with "vague ad hominem attacks". You wanna stick around, you ought to at least get used to it enough that you stop with the aghast monocle-popping routine. Even if many of the posts are only "vague ad hominem attacks".
Right, I was just wondering if there was a "reasonably well thought-out" part or if it was just the fluff. Sometimes it's hard to tell. What with all the monocle popping.
Ok. Allow me to paraphase:
"I think a government that does anything more than enforce contracts is bad.
We've been moving back to this 19th century ideal since Reagan got elected. I think the center of US politics favors an anarchic libertarian state, even though there's no evidence for this.
I really don't like people who think society is more than the sum of its individual transactions. Why, here's a completely unrelated data point that falsifies the communitarian thesis that the Reagan rollback is destroying the social fabric! How dare they tell us such lies, when my unrelated data point doesn't agree!
Now I'll engage in some fancy literary footwork that makes no sense at all, to support my newspeak argument that paid military service isn't slavery: conscription is! Naaah naah!
A volunteer military is a great government jobs program for the poor, too! Mind you, I'm ideologically opposed to that sort of thing, which should be a big flashing klaxon that I'm eating a fresh bowl of shit here, but you gullible people will believe anything.
Oh, by the way, a volunteer military might be less effective than a professional one. At least I got one valid point in this thing. Where's my check?" |
