My post started with "I did a few interviews last year..." by blackwater 02/22/2025, 6:57pm PST I don't know how you got from there to "it's hard to get any interviews." That was not what I said or implied. I do think it's hard to get the job after you do the interviews. Or at least, harder than it was a few years ago. The company I was discussing ghosted me after like 7 rounds of interviews. If they just hadn't responded in the first place I wouldn't consider that "ghosting." In general "ghosting" implies that you are talking to someone and then you stop. I would also add, a bunch of companies are now trying to hire engineers in lower cost locations due to the whole remote work thing. I know someone whose company is not hiring any junior engineers in California, for example. If you are a junior engineer and you are in California, you're not getting the job (or even getting an interview), no matter how awesome you are, because of company policy. That kind of thing doesn't affect me as directly since I'm not junior. But it does affect me indirectly because the job pool is shallower here now. Feels bad, man.
