I'm committed to watching through to the end just to see how bad it gets. I can't think of any other show in history that went so far downhill. House M.D.? Simpsons?
Season 3
Hot off of season 2's strong A plot, we get an entire season of Dexter becoming BFFs with doughy, strung out Jimmy Smits. He is advised against this by Ghost Dad, which is what happens when they're done with Dexter's origin story flashbacks but the actor still has a contract with the show. Doakes (whose death is the dumbest mistake the show will ever make) has been replaced by Quinn, aka Robert Patrick 2.0. Deb starts another ill advised relationship which will bring out her self-sabotaging nature. Angel is sad about his divorce, starts a multi-episode arc of cringe-worthy come ons to an undercover hooker with psychotic trust issues. Masuka, the pervy comic relief, gets his own sad subplot about hurt feelings. Quinn appears improbably rich and may be on the take. This is dropped and never mentioned again. An internal affairs officer pesters Deb for several episodes about informing on Quinn. This is dropped and never mentioned again. Nobody under 300 pounds is delighted when Dexter marries Rita. |
