No one really believes losing is fun. by Arbit 01/31/2013, 11:57am PST
OK, sometimes you die in such an amusing way that it can be fun. But really, what people mean “losing is [part of the] fun” or “losing [enables] fun”. The randomness pushes you out of your comfort zone and enables close-call wins that are more memorable than just taking the optimal path and winning every time. You could argue that FTL is too random but I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve heard of people achieving 75% wins on normal with the basic ship.

People just say losing is fun because it’s snappy and sounds HARDCORE
