Just read the comic by fabio 10/17/2012, 9:24pm PDT Some of the background inbetween chapter stuff is interesting, but the rest??? I'm going to put it up there with Fight Club as the movie being better than the book. At least the movie has Manhattan's soothing Garrison Keillor voice and Zack Snyder's visual style. The comic's art bugged the hell out of me. The coloring was jarring (color scheme courtesy of caltrops) and it couldn't convey motion. Every action scene fell flat. I never got the sense that Ozzy was anything other than someone who got lucky with a bullet hitting the pole he was holding and the Comedian's murder came across a thousand times better on screen. wtf squid? I flipped back to see if I missed anything. Someone drew a painting of it earlier. No clue about the rest. I'm not sure how banking on the destruction of half of New York getting the Soviets to declare peace made much sense. wtf black freighter? Was that supposed to be some parallel to Ozzy's plan? Was it worth making a quarter of the comic incoherent? I guess I can understand how this seems like the most meaningful story of all time to the people who think The Walking Dead is a deep statement on the human condition.
