...and that was only if you insisted on hitting people with the stocks instead of, you know, shooting them. Anyway, both that and Dead Rising were awesome, in large part because they kept their RPG elements the fuck away from the weapons. Whenever a game tells me I haven't done enough grinding yet to swing a club or shoot a gun or drive a car that's exactly like one I already have, only 37% more numerical, I feel an irrepressable urge to turn off my console and go outside. And I hate being outside! Yet, more and more games seem to be doing it these days - even the new Earth Defense Force has level requirements :(

Has there ever been a great game that so negatively impacted those that followed as Diablo? (Half-Life, maybe?)
