-The numbers can be turned off with virtually no detriment to your experience.
-The debug version was fixed literally day 1.
-The weapon degradation feels mechanically appropriate given the setting and it produces lots of fun, frantic groping for ad hoc weapons when shit goes south and your stuff starts breaking. The only possibly game ruining factoid element of the degradation is that blunt weapons, once broken, are gone for good. Bear that in mind and don't trash your natty blues, and you'll be fine.
The most important issue is that Dead Island has de facto online-always tethered DRM, and modding is complex given that it can trip VAC.
standalone pros:
-The wound modeling is a very positive update on Soldier of Fortune 2's accomplishments, and it has tangible impacts on gameplay
