Back before Thanksgiving I couldn't get our hosts to bill me. The time was up -- they had sent a message requesting payment but offered no way to pay it. I called them several (OK, "three") times, e-mailed whoever I could, but didn't get very far. I figured that something got cocked up and I was either going to get the site for free from then on, or else their own lack of useable contact numbers meant they were going to kill the site. So I got everything set up someplace else and had my finger on the button to transfer the URL. This was my silent Thanksgiving. I was playing poker with my brother, my girlfriend and Pinback in one room watching the Lions or Cowboys or whoever while going back to check on the site from another, ready to make the switch if need be. I will be putting this in the "So... You Decided to Admin Caltrops!" Acrobat file that I plan to give to the next person who wants to take a crack at running this place.

As it turns out, they billed me and I only found out by checking my bank statement. Fantastic!

But the point is, it would be stupid for me to get cozy here. If someone asked me how my relationship with this service will end I would eagerly admit that they are going to yank me. I'm not going to say I have a teflon-kevlar defense roll ready to go, because I probably don't, but when we offend somebody who just loses it we will hopefully rise again someplace. That being said, I appreciate your specific concerns and have thought about them today.

Oh! I meant the incompleteness of an archive within a certain time frame. If a backup until September 03 is the only one that exists then I am happy to have it. If a full backup is found, I'd be happy to have it. But either minus your posts and Veronica's posts and the Holy Goat of Power's posts, well, eh. It's a readability / comprehension / knee-slapping "those dumb fucks running Caltrops" thing. I would greatly appreciate having them back -- everyone would, I think. I don't think pghoster has anything on us either, except for maybe a print-out of our account, on which is stamped in bright red ink "DRAMA!!"

At any rate. I've started college again, and one of the reasons why I did so spectacularly the first time around is because I let distractions get to me. My intent was to not hop onto AIM for a while because I need to take this seriously. It would be utterly symbolic of me still being a shit student to spend my first night yakking away on AIM rather than getting my work done, and frankly, I don't see anyway I get out under three hours if I hop on. Please feel free to address any concerns you have over anything in e-mail, but I can't hop on IM tonight of all nights and still respect myself in the morning.
