If you're not happy, you're better off changing your location than changing yourself. Especially if you're old.

Get in as a highly skilled migrant. It shouldn't be difficult for you. It means you can go over there without sponsorship and your only obligation is to be 'economically active' in your first year. I've never earned enough to qualify as skilled but I'm sure you've been earning some big fat American dollars that you can shove in their face?
