Yesterday it died. I was downstairs for a while and when I came up the computer was off. My girlfriend reported that "It was making a loud sound and then shut off". Thanks for just sitting there, girlfriend. :(
I theorize that the A8N-E chipset fan was the culprit as it's barely movable now and has always been problematic. So, time to get a new mobo. Oh wait, Socket 939 doesn't exist anymore! Apparently I can throw this perfectly good CPU and 2 gigs of PC3200 RAM right in the fucking garbage. It's all Betamax.
Does anyone want to quickly recommend a CPU/Mobo? Motherhead is never online anymore, and Ray is giving what appears to be good advice, but remember that he makes his own shampoo and buys bulk jerky.
