Thanks to newegg.

Tech support take days to get back to me. Constantly not working. No power button to turn it OFF. I have to unplug it when I leave with my laptop. Proprietary format and software. I regret the day that I wasted 500$ on this thing, should have got a PCI-e hardware raid card.
This guy's already started in on his next mistake -- a PC with 4 SATA ports and Linux software RAID would be about the same price as a decent 4-port PCIe hardware RAID, and better in almost every regard.

make sure you save $50.00 bucks a year when you want to get the newest firmware updates, since these idiots at DRI feel the need to charge you when your warranty is up.
Fifty dollars! Charming!

4x500GB Seagates with 16MB cache, even for small stuff, say when I scan a document and then send it over as a .PDF to the Drobo it can take a few seconds. 5-6MB in size and this thing is still that BLEEPIN' slow, come on peeps. If you don't use the device it'll go to sleep. I've made a small batch files that keeps it alive, but it's still so dang slow...

Look elsewhere if you need a decent performing SOHO NAS solution. I guess this thing works okay for some, and granted, we're still using it now... I mean, we DID pay $XXX.00 the Drobo, then another $XXX clams for the ABSOULTEY WORTHLESS SLOW AS ALL ---YOU KNOW WHAT--- Droboshare, then another $XXX for drives... So, we're sort of stuck at the moment, but I'm looking into Synology stuff in the near future, which I think can do better and most importantly PERFORM better across a Gigabit LAN...
Batch files!

***** Drive rebuilds can take 2 to 5 days ******
***** Drive expansions can take 2 to 5 days (same process) ****
DURING REBUILD OR EXPANSION IF ANOTHER DRIVE FAILS, ALL YOUR DATA IS LOST.
DATA IS INCORRECTLY REPORTED. THERE IS NO NEED TO INTRODUCE THIN PROVISIONING TO THE BASIC USERS.
I'm not sure what that last sentence is trying to say. It doesn't sound positive.

2 first gen DROBO's attached to W2003R2 servers. Using DFS, the native file replication built into windows server is unreliable & inconsistent w/the DROBO's. The drives regularly disconnect from the OS which leads to an "interesting" feedback loop as they end up chasing each other to get back in sync (which has yet to happen). When copying large files over the network to the DROBO hosted by the file server, the server can become blocked while writing to the DROBO and the drives fall off of the network & server (copy fails). Lastly, DROBO has adopted a $50 ANNUAL SUPPORT requirement for continued system firmware access. For systems with lapsed coverage, the FEE IS RAISED TO $129.
Fifty was the friend price!
