Entirely too late but comprehensive review of the Drobo by The Hapiness Engine 03/21/2008, 9:35am PDT
Courtesy of The Register.

Summary: It's expensive, and doesn't have any advanced features, but what it does is allow you to throw any odd-sized disks you have laying around into it and it will create an array that can take the failure of any one disk. It will also ask for more or bigger disks when you fill it or break it. Perfect if you don't care about $500 and want some data redundancy without thinking.
