Imagine ancient carnage as a least favourite genre. Right after romantic comedy? Please keep my carnage modern or my ancient movies bloodless, good sirs!

They have Schwarzeneggerian biceps, and every last one of them, even the greybeards, wear well-defined six- packs on their abs.
Could they put a fake grey beard on a muscular man? I don't know, I'm just brainstorming here!
That was definitely my favourite Ebert complaint about 300. Lifetime fat man sees a bunch of muscular people and decides it must be special effects. It made the movie worse for him. Nevermind the actual mythical monsters in the movie or other ridiculousness. What's worth mentioning is the fantasy aspect of that many muscles in one place at one time.

And then of course, much like the ending of They Live, Ebert complains about the violence.
It's great that his complaint about 300, a movie ABOUT 300 Spartans dying, is "too much death". The movie surely could've made its point after just a dozen or so deaths?
