That is pretty accurate. by Ethan Steele 02/21/2008, 11:14am PST
Nero is smoother to play as than Dante, you don't have to do a lot of running around as his grab brings the enemies to you, but I get the feeling that Dante does more damage than Nero (or at least I find it easier to destroy stuff)

Nero's cutscenes all try to make him out as a bit of a badass, but just fall short of all the things you remember Dante doing. It kinda works, but watching Nero do it makes you think about how quick Dante would deal with everything or how much more over the top he'd go.

Dante's cutscenes all try make him out as the biggest badass ever. They work. Example: One level has Nero rolling a dice (use the grab attack to roll the same number as on the top of the dice) to move across a board. When Dante reaches this part of a level he SLICES THE FUCKING DICE IN HALF. He doesn't have time for that shit, he's got demon eggs to punt at people and roses to flick and toads to sexually harass.

Being able to switch styles means they've been able to make each style that much more important, rather than in DMC3 where you could use any style at any time and it wouldn't really make much difference. In DMC4, if you're going to be melee fighting you want Swordmaster on so you can utilise the best combos (and do an air combo), if you're fighting at long range you want Gunslinger so you turn Pandora into a giant cannon (as well as a sweet laser gun) and if you just want to be cheeky and zip around a lot then Trickster is the one to go for. Royal Guard is for experts and is tough to use, but when used properly is the most broken thing in the game.

I'm liking it because, unlike DMC 3, I could play the first level without dying by a billion times. Entropy Stew 02/17/2008, 4:50pm PST NEW
