I find just using the shotgun like a crazy bastard will get the job done, but keeping an eye on health for when the suicide attack kicks in.

Is this faster than Ebony & Ivory in gunslinger mode? Is this also a good way for dealing with the ghost guys on Dante? Both enemies seem designed to throw off the pace of the game. For example, level 17 in the bloody palace is currently unbeatable for me because it takes so fucking long to kill that blitz. Ghosts present a similar problem sometimes.

My personal bane are the rolling wheel guys, they're stupid easy to fight, but I'll be up to an SS rank using Dance Macabre and whilst Dante is recovering from the final swing the little axe bit will fall on me and ruin my rating :(

I think you can cancel that final recovery with a jump. However, style demands that you switch to trickster, warp into the air and destroy the blade with a helmet splitter.
