That may be the case because it seems each map name has different "nodes" because I swear I've played 3 different version of Hydro.

The way to win dustbowl is to ubercharge a heavy to draw sentry fire, and then have the rest of the team blow up the sentries and rush the cap point to VICTORY. Most people are usually too busy hiding behind corners or playing offensive snipers past the opening gate, though.
This works
...if the attacking team is awesomely organized and the defensive team is hopeless. It takes a super coordinated strategy like this for the attackers to gain ground while all the defenders have to do is build sentries and lob explosives at the ONE tiny opening all the attackers have to funnel through. If the defenders have even a fraction of the coordination you're talking about then (a "fraction" meaning a defending engineer also builds a teleporter while everyone sits on a dispenser and unloads on the gap, and god help the attacking team if the defenders let loose an ubered pyro or demo inside the gate) no one is ever going to get through.
And every cap point does have multiple paths, not including rocket/grenade jumping tricks.
What hidden paths am I missing? Are you sure we're talking about the same Dustbowl map where right out of the gate there's a wood shack, directly behind which is the capture point on a small platform? The small gap to the right of the cabin is the only way to the point. The second point has a sewer route that still requires you to cross the same narrow wooden bridge at the end so that hardly counts.
And every attacking team needs exactly 1 engineer. His sole mission is to create a teleporter to move the team from the spawn point to the next cap point as fast as possible to keep the pressure up.
Trench warfare wouldn't have been such a stalemate if the French had faster taxis to take troops to the front =\
New patch tweaks sudden death so it only triggers if the teams are tied (hold the same number of points?). Better, but they really need to fix sudden death itself instead of changing its trigger conditions. |
