My Hooker anecdote <-- not as good as a New Zealand story. by Fussbett 09/20/2007, 3:18pm PDT In 1985 the teacher was asking us to name some famous detectives. I think this would lead into him reading Sherlock Holmes? Not important. After exhausting the short list that kids can think up, which I think was Starsky and Hutch, Nancy Drew, and Encyclopedia Brown, there was a long pause as we racked our brains to think up more. Surely there must be one more detective we could name! One kid finally broke the silence, excitedly shouting "Hooker!" The class erupted in laughter. I tried to make "Hooker" stick as a nickname for him, but people moved on far too soon.
