Torche -- Cavity was an underground sludge/stoner/doom legend, and they broke up to split into Dove and Torche. Dove broke up to become nothing but atoms (heavy ones, like radium maybe), and Torche remains. Openly gay singer! Yeah Yeah Yeahs -- A cheesy pick, but every song on the last album "Show Your Bones" is awesome pop rock. One Man Army and the Undead Quartet -- Death metal fans only :( Okkervil River -- Emo folk country music?! Sepultura -- The album they released a couple months ago, Dante XXI, is a concept album based on Dante's Inferno, and it destroys Slayer's stupid stab at 2006 thrash metal. The Sword -- More doom metal. If you have to choose between these guys and Torche, because of some improbable Sofie's Choice straw man conceit, pick Torche. Propagandhi -- I've slowly been falling in love with their latest album, Potemkin City Limits, and it all began when I realized that there are no choruses. In fact, there are barely even any repeating verses. Or repeating anything. Quite an accomplishment for punk. Are they punk? They sure hope so, and they refuse to have a MySpace profile to prove the point. Earl Greyhound -- I don't even think Earl Greyhound has an album out yet! This is the ground floor, people. High quality MP3 of the song SOS here. Here are some things to NOT listen to, if you want to be like Fussbett: Comets on Fire. Try as you might, you'll find it boring. Same goes for Pelican, whom I thought I liked, briefly, and then I saw them live and realized that Pelican is also boring. If an MP3 could materialize into the physical realm, I'd break my Pelican MP3s in half! Plus Ween put out a B-sides compilation last year called "Shinola Vol. 1", of which I never spoke, but it's decent. Entombed put out an EP on 06/06/06 (GET IT?) that was just "meh". In general I recommend you add more Kyuss and Fugazi to your Ween and Clutch diet.
