Actually... by Lizard_King 02/24/2006, 4:49pm PST I think Psychonauts may have killed oddball games for me. Talk about saving an incredible disappointment for the end...it was a veritable punch in the nuts of shitty platforming and cheap gimmicks to make you lose. I mean, the rest of the game the lackluster play control is not really a factor, and most of the levels are worth exploring just because they are interesting. Sure, simply creating objects and calling them psychatric puns could have been disastrous (Collect all the emotional baggage!) but is mostly successful. The characters are great, and the dialogue is well above most games in quality. But the bosses, the final level, and while we're talking about things that piss me off, a small but key portion of the voice acting, centered around that last level, is totally beyond the pale....they make this game fall apart at the seams. So, Game: 8/10 Bosses: 3/10 Final level/boss: Fuck this game. Summary: Fuck this game. Rent it, just so you can have the satisfaction of cussing out the blockbuster guy for no reason when you return it.
