The box makes it look like the next Leisure Suit Larry game, and Japanophiles will try to convince you it's a "dating sim". In reality though, it's pretty much what you would end up with if Star Control 2 was stripped of all gameplay except the dialog trees and the setting was changed from space to 20 somethings vacationing at a ski resort. It's a "dating sim" as much as Star Control 2 was a grim and serious space opera.
Your wife will love it because the story and dialog were written by a chick, and in a lot of parts it shows (except that it's actually amusing). The chick's storyline involves crazy chick things that chicks do (not to be confused with crazy Tom Chick things that Tom Chicks do), while the guy's storyline seems like the kind of stuff that chicks think guys would do and act like.
If you think your wife will like an entirely dialog driven tounge in cheek adventure game (barely any item usage, most puzzles are just choosing the right dialog options) about dopey guys, chicks stealing each others' boyfriends then acting catty followed by a verbal catfight insult contest on what a man stealing skank hussy your ex best friend is, then go for it and Sprung: Soap Opera Control 2, you can do no wrong. |
