| My wife needs to have yet another surgery next week, and since it's a complicated deal she'll be in the hospital for probably a week afterward, and then after that probably another month on the couch.
She's a typical girl and likes typical girl stuff, at the times when she likes things at all. Her birthday is Tuesday (the day before the surgery - Happy Birthday! Now drink your bowel evacuation liquid), and I was thinking I'd get her one of those Nintendo DS's, with Nintendogs, and maybe Sims 2 or one of those retro arcade things. That way she can play her game while I sit there and play with my laptop in the hospital. Here's the question: I noticed that Nintendogs has a voice-recognition thing, where you tell the dog it's good or not to eat your shoes or whatever it is you might say to your Nintendog. It seems to me that just about the only way that it would be possible to make a hospital stay less dignified would be to take it from "Laying naked in a wide open gown with catheters and blood pressure stockings and IVs running into you" to "Laying naked in a wide open gown with catheters and blood pressure stockings and IVs running into you, while telling your handheld video game that it's a good boy." Does anyone here know whether the voice aspect of the game is optional? If it isn't then the whole DS idea is off. If it is, then maybe Christmas (or, more precisely, the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas) can be saved. Thanks, FoK |
