I'm not down on Gervais at all, and the Office is now one of my gold standards for comedy, but usually my judge of comedy is whether I laugh and clap, not whether the televised audience does. What the fuck do I care if they're laughing and clapping? This was me throughout the encore: -___-

BTW, that comedy alchemy of which you speak, where normal speech gets transformed into comedy? That's ALL comedy. It's not like Dave Chappelle is performing his encore in some crazy, non-human fashion that no one has seen before.
