Overall very enjoyable if you find him funny, but some weak material, buoyed by that fact that he's pretty amusing even if telling a story that isn't funny. I nitpick because I think if he chilled out a bit more, collected more grade A material, it could've been outstanding.

His next act should just be "Ricky Gervais Reads You the Bible". I'd pay for that.


Yeah, his encore was particularly strange, where he mentions that both his parents are dead and then tells this anecdote that I guess he thinks is really touching but isn't. I had actually been avoiding checking this special out because I had heard a lot of people saying it paled in comparison to "The Office", and I think they were right, but it was pretty funny. I prefer Chappelle's latest Showtime special, though, which also ends with a sappy anecdote but which, in my opinion, is considerably more funny. And this encore is a lot better, too.
