I read it. He did do this, and yeah, it doesn't work. I liked the 4th one the best too, but every other person I talked to about them disagrees with me. The 5th book has some good points, but there are way too many threads heading towards the conclusion so that it can't help but be disappointing. I disliked most of the last book (Stephen King himself turns up, I imagine you would particularly hate that part, I did) except the very, very last bit which was more like a short story ending than a 7-book epic and I kind of admired it for that.

if 4 was the prequel one then yeah, very readable. Cowboys having gunfights with wizards n shit is all i want. If i were King, i'd probably find an excuse from writing sassy black cripple dialouge and interrupt the story too. Or maybe he needed the time to think of a new bad guy, something that would somehow top giant bear robot and evil talking train.

the last one i read was the one where the hidden secret revelation at the end where the bad guys on horseback turned out to be.....werewolf Doombots! On robotic horses! I'm up for as much absurd faggotry as anyone else, but the characters are all playing it deadpan serious, "Yep. That was Doom allright, from the Marvel comics." *intense glare into the sunset*

Oh, and King decides we aren't taking his faggot B-team gunslingers serious enough and tries to toughen them up or whatever. Gunslinger will turn around and all of the sudden throw up a bunch of plates into the air, so they can start shooting them, y'know, on instinct. Then they shoot the pieces into smaller pieces and shoot those pieces into dust fragments so small only gunslingers and see and continue shooting. THEN they ran around catching the subatomic plate particles in their hands as they fell, so not one touched the ground. talking dog, crazy cripple relapse, That 80's Guy, so on and so forth.
