I've been reading a book on computer programming and a book on English as she is taught: The Pragmatic Programmer and Less Than Words Can Say. It struck me that the much of the stylistic advice in either book could apply to either discipline. Is it because the computer languages were written by English speakers and thinkers? Or are the rules of clear expression universal? The former, obviously. Move along.

Incident to that, I've been stressing about my writing. While I'm typing out my thoughts, they seem articulate, orderly, and complete. They then become a choppy and strangled mess on rereading. It's as though Notepad were eating every third sentence. And since I don't notice this while I'm writing, I don't know how to fix it. Suggestions?

Lastly, my left foot is a full size larger than my right. For serious. I had myself measured for a pair of hiking boots and the shoe lady dropped that on me. Now how the hell do you miss a thing like that?
